Founded in January 1997 by Dr. Iris S. Levine, VOX Femina Los Angeles gives women voice through the performance of quality choral literature. Diverse in culture, age, race, belief, and sexual identity, VOX is dedicated to commissioning new works and raising awareness about issues that affect us as a family of women. Through our music, we seek to create a world which affirms the worth and dignity of every person.

Since its debut, VOX has performed a catalogue of music exemplifying diverse musical styles and repertoire, and has commissioned over 50 new works for women’s voices, collaborating with over 35 contemporary composers. VOX is honored to have performed with other Los Angeles arts organizations such as the LA Philharmonic, LA Master Chorale, Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, and CONTRA Tiempo Activist Dance Theater. Honors and Awards received by VOX include being named District Nonprofit of the Year by State Senator Holly Mitchell; First Place in the women’s category of the international Golden State Choral Trophy competition, selection to be one of four choirs to participate in the Tapestry International Festival in Vancouver, Canada, and the SFCV Audience Choice Award for the Best Choral Performance in the LA area. In June of 2024, VOX will make its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
